December 2008 - We were convinced that our application wasn´t going to be processed until after January 1st, because this was the deadline that the embassy had given us to file all the necessary documents. We´re wrong though!Yesterday December 22nd we received a letter from Berlin with the request to undergo a medical exam. Okay, I suppose this means all the other documents are in order?!? Fantastic! Without further hesitation we called the assigned medical examiner, a doctor in Amsterdam. "Can you be there tomorrow at 08.30 a.m.": he said. Sure, no problem.
The very kind and experienced doctor explained the procedure, attached our photo´s to a bunch of papers, signed and stamped a few other papers and off we go to a hospital nearby for blood samples and x-rays.
Back at the doctor´s office he examines us for blood pressure, heart rate, medical history and any further significances. There is one large but, Cisco´s medical past. The doctor believes it´s wise if our own doctor could explain his medical background in a letter and then he will add this to the other data he has to send to Vienna.
We said goodbye, left Amsterdam and called our doctor if he could supply this type of information. This wasn´t a problem at all and they sent it to Amsterdam the same day. Right on!
December 23rd 2008 - a very busy, but oh so fruitful day and the best X-mas gift we´ve ever received!
